Well in case it had escaped your attention, I’ll be singing at the Royal Wedding on Saturday. It’ll be lovely to be back in Windsor Castle, and St George’s Chapel has a dream acoustic, not to mention its fifteenth-century beauty which will be the perfect setting for much-celebrated nuptials. To say that I’m surprised to find myself singing at a royal wedding would be an understatement. I had no idea what was coming when I answered the phone in the middle of March, but I was beyond delighted to be invited to perform. I LOVE singing at weddings. It’s absolutely the best perk of my job: being part of a couple’s most special day, creating a beautiful atmosphere to set the scene for their vows, and helping to make the service special and memorable in every tiny detail.
The build-up to Saturday has been great fun: I thought I was an organised and far-sighted person until I came across the might of royal-wedding-planning! I’m all set to go now with my dress, fascinator, beautiful jewellery, and (sensible) shoes. Rehearsing with the orchestra has been great fun, we’ve all had smiles on our faces because the music is so radiant. Let’s all hope the weather holds, to be the crowning glory on a special day.
